Decatur track stars are Austin bound

Five athletes from the county’s two biggest schools qualified for the state track and field meet in seven events to make this weekend’s regional finals the most successful so far this decade. From Decatur, sophomore Hanna Galloway is going to Austin in the 1,600 meters and 3,200, and freshman Bianca Morrison broke a personal record by four seconds to qualify in the 800. Senior Cynthia Carrillo is state bound in the 1,600 and freshman Zuleima Palomo is going in the 3,200. From Northwest, senior Chris Bain won both the 100 and 200 to stamp his ticket to Austin June 5-6 at the University of Texas in Austin.
