The Slidell Greyhounds could not stay with the District 17-A leaders, the Saint Jo Panthers, Friday night.
Saint Jo ended the third quarter on a 7-0 run to regain its double-digit lead en route to a 46-32 victory.
Saint Jo’s run to end the third followed Slidell’s push to rally from a 10-point deficit, 27-17. Slidell scored five straight to trim the deficit in half after Omar Gomez’ free throw to complete a three-point play with 3:45 left in the frame. It would be Slidell’s last points of the quarter as Saint Jo built the lead to 34-22.
Saint Jo led by as many as 15 in the fourth quarter.
Slidell was led by Dyllon James with 10 points. Trent Myers added eight. Dylan Carnes had seven. Gomez scored six.
William Phillips led Saint Jo with 12 points. Josh Hale added 10.
