Sissies’ streak end at 14

The Bridgeport Sissies’ undefeated run through District 5-3A is over.
Bridgeport (19-7, 4-1) could not overcome 32 turnovers, falling to Burkburnett 62-52 Friday night.
“We can’t beat anybody if we turn the ball over 32 times each game,” said Bridgeport coach Eddie Fortenberry.
The loss ended the Sissies’ 14-game winning streak in the league over the past two seasons. It also dropped Bridgeport into a three-way tie for first place with Burkburnett and Iowa Park after the first round of league play. Bridgeport heads to Iowa Park Tuesday.
Bridgeport led 45-44 going into the fourth quarter. Burkburnett outscored Bridgeport 18-7 in the final frame to get the win.
Haley Meekins led four Bridgeport players in double figures with 12. She posted a double double with her 11 rebounds.
Becca Logan and Emily Price scored 11 each. Katy Samples added 10. Presley White had six. Sarah Joiner and Alyssa Holmes scored one each.
