The Bridgeport Sissies found enough offense against the stubborn Decatur Lady Eagles’ defense Tuesday night to extend its District 5-3A winning streak to 14 games.
The Sissies went on a 7-0 run in the final 2:58 of the first quarter to take a 9-2 lead and held on for the rest of the game.
Bridgeport guard Katie Samples scored four points during the run, all at the free-throw line. Samples finished with nine points, tying Haley Meekins for the team high.
Decatur closed the gap to two, 11-9, in the second quarter on a free-throw by Chandler Young. Young’s free throw followed three straight jumpers hit by Jordan Alker, who led Decatur with eight points.
Bridgeport took a 15-9 lead into halftime and led by eight going into fourth quarter, 25-17.
Bridgeport built the lead to 12, 35-23, on a free-throw by Presley White with 1:50 left.
