Alvord takes over third in 9-2A

The Alvord Lady Bulldogs will head into the final game of the first half of District 9-2A play in sole possession of third-place.
Alvord (15-7, 4-2) held off Millsap for a 40-39 win Tuesday night to stake claim to third place. Alvord entered the night in a three-way time with Boyd and Millsap for the spot. Boyd fell to first-place Brock 79-40.
Alvord trailed 20-16 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs pushed ahead in the third quarter with a 15-9 run and held on in the final frame.
Jennifer Ward led Alvord with 14 points. Jordan Ward added 11. Madi Lynch and Marley Moyers each had six.
Ashton Waters scored 22 for Millsap.
Alvord will play Boyd Friday at Boyd.
