Sissies fall to Iowa Park

The Bridgeport Sissies had no answer for Iowa Park outside hitter Presley Gann Friday night.

Gann put down 19 kills in Iowa Park's three-game sweep of the Sissies. Iowa Park (15-10, 6-1) beat Bridgeport (8-16, 2-5) 25-21, 25-20, 25-14 at Bridgeport High School Gym.

The Sissies were led by Becky Grinnell with eight kills. Haley Meekins added seven.

Bridgeport had leads in the first two games but could not make them hold.

Bridgeport led 11-9 in game one before Iowa Park came storming back. Back-to-back kills by Amanda Fuhrman tied the game at 11. Iowa Park took the lead at 13-12 on a kill by Gann. Iowa Park built the lead to 21-16 and held on for a four-point win.

Bridgeport jumped out to a 10-3 lead in game two before Iowa Park made its charge. Iowa Park took the lead, 19-18, on a Gann kill. Iowa Park ended the game with a 7-2 run.

Going for the sweep, Iowa Park jumped on Bridgeport early in game three. Iowa Park built a 14-5 lead on a kill by Blaire Untalan. Bridgeport made a short rally to get back within seven, 15-8, on back-to-back kills from Meekins and Grinnell. The rally was short-lived. Iowa Park ended the match with a 6-1 run.
