Northwest finishes third

Rachel Riggs finished fourth, and the Lady Texans placed third as Northwest hosted the Ken Garland invitational cross country meet Saturday in Denton.
Riggs ran the course in 12 minutes. Jasmine Boutte placed 13th in 12:49, Caren Stuebe 23rd in 13:07, Malisa Lewis 30th in 13:18 and Cooper Mitchell 33rd in 13:28. Chelsea Reza was 41st in 13:52 and Victoria Rasmussen finished 51st in 14:42.

The Texans got three top 10 finishes to take second behind Keller Central with 48 points. Troy Taylor was also individual runner-up in 16:32. Brandon Steed placed fifth in 16:49, Stephen Johnson ninth in 17:04, Nick Fowler 25th in 17:50 and Josh Dunn 27th in 17:53. Jared Ward was 29th in 17:55 and Brian Cooper 45th in 18:28.

Both teams competed in the elite division.

In the varsity division, Slidell's Bobbi Clemmer won in 12:44, and teammate Allie Staub was third in 12:51. Rounding out the Slidell effort were Katy Stephens in 81st, Chanel Brewer in 122nd, Rebekah McGregor in 123rd, Sarah Davis in 132nd, Fernanda Martinez in 139th and Caira Heinze in 142nd. The Lady Greyhounds were 10th as a team.

Northwest's second team placed fifth, led by Chynna Hart in 24th with a 13:43, Jessica Wiggins in 32nd, Maddie Wood in 35th, Mariah Indihar in 50th, Allison VanGordon in 51st, Megan Ross in 53rd, Laura Day in 62nd and Ceidy Dee in 69th.

Northwest's second team ran sixth in the boys varsity division. Tate Hunton paced the team, placing 20th in 18:28. David Dunford was 24th, Trenton Beaufeaux 32nd, James McCann 40th, Bradley Sooter 74th, Conner McDonald 81st and Chris Giles 95th.
