The Lady Eagle varsity team allowed just 11 points in each of the first two games before taking the deciding contest 25-15.

"This was a great district win for us heading into Friday night's matchup against Bridgeport," Coach Claire Rose said.

"We were able to work our free balls and attack from the serving line," she said.

Off 18 assists from Fleming Smurthwaite and nine from Joey Redwine, the front line was led by 12 kills by Sara Oxford, eight from Kortney Tompkins and seven by Smurthwaite.

Smurthwaite scored eight points on aces, and with two each were Claribel Trejo, Carmen Cash and Tompkins.

On the defensive ledger, Trejo and Smurthwaite each dug out five attempts, Oxford and Cash three each and Lynzee Jordan and Tompkins two apiece.

Smurthwaite blocked four shots, Annelise Carpenter three and Ciara Currin two.
