The Lady Dragons took the lead 25-17 in the first game, but Boyd battled to even the match 27-25. Chico took control in the third game 25-16 and finished off the match 25-10.
"This was an up and down game," Chico Coach Brent Hand said. "As long as we do the little things right, we are very successful."
Shelby Collins scorched Boyd for 20 kills. For Chico, Melanie Gates and Mallori Moss each contributed five, Alyssa Bowyer three and Hannah Avants two. Molli Umphress set up 28 assists and Kim Workman six. Collins had 16 digs, Avants eight and Gates five.
