The Lady Eagles polished off Iowa Park Friday to go 5-0. In the process Decatur lost only one game while dispatching district foes at a 15-1 clip.
Previously unbeaten Iowa Park was the latest victim of the Lady Eagle brooms, swept 25-10, 25-14, 25-17.
"What a fun district matchup between two undefeated teams," said Coach Claire Rose. "The girls came out very ready to play and mentally focused."
The Lady Eagles shut down the Lady Hawks, forcing 22 hitting errors, Rose said. The play from the back row and blockers allowed the setters to have options to move the ball around and keep Iowa Park guessing.
The Eagle front line hit Iowa Park with 36 blocks and 31 kills. Sara Oxford slammed 17 kills while blocking seven shots. Kortney Tompkins had nine kills and four blocks. Ciara Currin and Fleming Smurthwaite each blocked six shots, with a pair of kills for Smurthwaite.
Kortni Robinson and Annelise Carpenter each blocked four shots, and Robinson killed three. Ingrid Boatman added three blocks.
Smurthwaite had 23 assists, nine digs and three aces. Oxford had six digs, Tompkins five, Lynzee Jordan and Claribel Trejo three each and Carmen Cash two.
The Lady Eagles started the second half Tuesday, hosting Vernon, and travel to Wichita Falls Friday to face Hirschi.
