Bulls begin playoff march

The Bridgeport Bulls will begin their playoff run tonight with a Class 3A Division II Region I area game against the China Spring Cougars.
Kickoff for the clash is at 8 p.m. at Burleson Stadium. Sports Editor Richard Greene will be blogging about the game live at the stadium.

Lady Eagles switch opponents

The Decatur Lady Eagles basketball team was forced to switched opponents for its game Friday night.
The Lady Eagles were scheduled to play the Aubrey Chaparrals, but will now play the Nocona Lady Indians at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Only the varsity will play.
Aubrey had to cancel its game after its volleyball team made this weekend’s state tournament in San Marcos.

Raging Bull: Scott leads Bridgeport defense into postseason

Bridgeport’s Daniel Scott doesn’t deny he has a split personality.

“I try to be the nice guy off the field, but between whistles I’ve got to be something else,” Scott said. “My goal is to get back there, create havoc and be the beast the coaches want me to be.”

The Decatur Lady Eagles are the best Class 3A cross country team in Texas again.

Decatur claimed its second straight state title and its third since 2005 with a dominating 73-point victory at the University Interscholastic League championships at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock Saturday. Decatur finished with 57 points. Lucas Lovejoy and Argyle tied for second with 130 points.

Sutton picks kindness over clock

In her final high-school cross country race, Decatur’s Sutton Young captured a state title and also won the hearts of many fans.

Against the state’s best Class 2A runners, the Alvord Lady Bulldogs brought home an 11th-place finish.

Slidell’s Staub just misses medal

At the end of a two-mile race, only a few steps meant the difference in getting a spot on the medal stand and an 11th-place finish for Slidell’s Allie Staub Saturday.
