About Vernon: After beating Hirschi to start District 5-3A play, the Lions were drilled last week in a 48-14 loss to Burkburnett. Vernon gave up 487 yards in the loss.

About Decatur: The Eagles picked up its first win last week over Hirschi 17-6. Decatur rolled up 325 yards in the win. The defense held Hirschi scoreless in the second half.

About Fossil Ridge: Like the Texans, the Panthers are looking for their first win. Fossil Ridge fell to Grapevine 38-33 last week. The Panthers’ last two losses have been by a combined eight points.

DISTRICT FOES - A host of Paradise defenders, including Jarrett Roper (24) and Watt Ragle (75) take down Chico's Wade Patterson Friday night at Dragon Stadium. Paradise earned its first win of the year.
The Paradise Panthers earned their first win of the season Friday night in Chico to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Panthers won 32-0.

It’s been a rough year so far for Boyd and Chico with only one win between the two of them. With the start of district 9-2A on Friday, it appeared one team might be ready to turn its season around while the going will remain tough for the other.
