Assault on Eagle Summit returns

Runners will return to challenge the hills of Eagle Summit Saturday morning for the first time in two years. The Assault of Eagle Summit will start with the 6A/5A varsity girls 5K at 8 a.m. and will be followed by the 6A/5A varsity boys race. The large school junior varsity races will be held before the four 4A-and-under events. A race will start approximately every 25 minutes.

For their opener, the Northwest Texans’ inexperienced defense faced the challenge of slowing down Alvarado’s powerful ground attack. The Texans’ defense proved up to the task, holding Alvarado to 275 yards of total offense, including 176 yards rushing on 39 attempts. More importantly, the Texans defense allowed only two touchdowns in the 35-20 victory.
