Paradise falls in double OT

The Paradise Panthers erased a 14-point deficit over the final seven minutes, scoring with four seconds left in regulation to force overtime. But after Jack Ishmael hit a dramatic 39-yard field goal to send the game to a second overtime, the Panthers couldn’t convert on the point after in the second overtime, leaving the door open for Breckenridge. The Buckaroos scored on their first offensive play in the second overtime on a 25-yard pass and Jose Escobedo booted through the extra point to give Breckenridge the 38-37 win over Paradise in the 4-3A Division I opener at Panther Stadium.

Argyle rolls past Decatur in league opener

Decatur got the start it was looking for. A three-and-out on Argyle’s opening drive gave Decatur the ball with an opportunity to take a shot and get on the board first. It did just that, and on the first play from scrimmage, junior quarterback Wilson Hicks barely overthrew his intended receiver on a play-action pass. Instead of an early touchdown, it was the first of many missed opportunities for Decatur, who fell on the road to Argyle 62-21 Friday night.

When Bridgeport’s Kristen Grooms’ shot hit the floor to even the match Tuesday against Decatur, a loud roar echoed through Bridgeport High School gym. Decatur quickly regrouped behind freshman Trinity Vinzant and quieted the Sissies in the third game. Decatur went on to take the victory in four sets (25-14, 22-25, 25-17, 25-9).
