But after establishing an early 14-0 lead, the Texans couldn't score again in a 31-14 loss. It dropped Northwest to 0-8 while Fossil Ridge moved to 1-6, 1-4 in district.

Northwest held the hosts to 64 yards in the first half, but the second half was a different story, with the Texans yielding 311.

Tristan Cesar opened the scoring on a 3-yard run with 1:33 left in the first quarter. Cameron Langer kicked the point after for a 7-0 lead.

It grew to 14-0 when Michael Reed scored on a 5-yard run at 3:22 of the second half, and Langer hit the PAT.

But Fossil Ridge answered with just 1:30 left in the half on a 17-yard pass to make it 14-7.

The same combination, James Jordan to Steven West for 15 yards, tied it at 14 just 2:42 into the second half, and at 4:07 of the third period, a Tray Lunch run put the Texans in a hole they wouldn't climb from, 21-14. Kicker Bo Breckenridge hit a field goal to make it 24-14 Fossil Ridge with 9:48 to play and Lynch added a scoring run with 2:30 to go.

Cesar had a 130-yard rushing night for the Texans, but after 169 yards of offense in the first half, Northwest managed just 79 in the second.

The Texans host Trinity for their final home game Oct. 30.
