After a scoreless opening quarter, the Bulls (4-4, 3-0) exploded for 28 points in the second quarter. Blake Waldrep began the scoring with a 1-yard run with 10:23 left in the quarter. Ricky Martinez, who was 7 for 7 on extra point kicks, gave the Bulls a 7-0 lead. Quarterback Cody Henson threw three touchdown passes in the quarter, including a 27-yard strike to Jordan Daniel, a 37-yard pass to Gabe Huerta and a 25-yard connection with Trent Schuett.
Bridgeport struck for more in the third quarter. Henson connected with Daniel again for a 4-yard touchdown pass to give the Bulls a 35-0 lead with 10:10 left in the quarter.
Vernon (1-7, 1-2) scored its only points with 6:22 remaining in the third when Jesus Lora scored from a yard out. Jonathan Neuberger's kick cut the lead to 35-7.
The Bulls responded just minutes later when Henson threw his fifth touchdown pass of the night - this time a 32-yard strike to Schuett. Backup quarterback Dustin Green capped the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run with 6:53 remaining in the game.
In addition to his five touchdowns, Henson threw for 251 yards on 15 of 27 passing. The Bulls added 138 yards rushing for 389 yards of total offense.
