Northwest scored eight minutes into the game when Drew Bridges scooped up a fumble running 55 yards for the touchdown, and Cameron Langer scored the extra point.
L.D. Bell pushed the ball down the field and scored on a 21-yard field goal by Cole Benton, and later in the quarter, with less than three minutes to go, quarterback James Mauro threw a 29-yard pass to Kenny Muwanguzi for the score. Benton was good for the extra point to close the quarter with a 10-7 lead.
Both teams struggled in the second quarter and were unable to find the end zone before the action picked up in the third.
With 10 minutes still left to play in the third, Bridges, who returned the fumble in the first quarter for Northwest, was injured and taken to a local hospital. His condition was not available at press time.
With 6:52 left, L.D. Bell started a scoring spree with a 26-yard field goal by Benton. On the very next play, Jeramie Brown grabbed the second Northwest fumble and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown. Benton kicked the extra point.
To top off the quarter, James Mauro made a spectacular play with a 75-yard pass to Austin West, and Benton came through again with the kick.
Northwest finally managed to put some points on the board on the final play of the quarter when Dack McElhannon came through on a 10-yard blocked punt. Langer kicked the extra point, but Northwest was still trailing, 27-14.
L.D. Bell was scoreless in the fourth, but with only three minutes left, Northwest managed to find the end zone one more time on a short Taylor Barnhill pass to Langer. They kicked for the extra point, but it was no good.
L.D. Bell only managed 43 yards rushing, but racked up 307 yards passing for a total of 350. Northwest only managed 65 passing yards but tacked on 118 rushing yards for total of 183.
Penalties also plagued Northwest as they lost 75 yards on six.
The loss knocked Northwest to 0-6 for the season and 0-1 in district.
