Texans take fourth at meet

The Northwest Texans cross country team took fourth at the Rick Neil Invitational Saturday at Lake Park in Lewisville.

In the 5A race, the Texans tallied 94 points. Flower Mound won the meet with 30 points. This was the Texans' final run before the District 5-5A meet in Denton Oct. 29.

The Texans' top runner was Troy Taylor, finishing sixth on the 5K course in 16:06. Brandon Steed finished eighth in 16:18. Stephen Johnson ran 16:50, taking 16th. Brian Cooper finished 29th in 17:12. Nick Fowler ran 17:35, finishing 38th. Josh Dunn crossed the finish line in 18:06, taking 48th. Jared Ward was 50th, running 18:12.

The Lady Texans took fifth at the meet with 129 points in the girls 5A race. Highland Park won the championship, scoring 43 points.

The Lady Texans' top runner was Jasmine Boutte, who ran a 12:06 on the two-mile course to take 14th. Malisa Lewis ran 12:13, finishing 18th. Caren Stuebe took 30th in 12:41. Chelsea Reza ran 12:45, taking 33rd. Cooper Mitchell finished 34th in 12:47. Chynna Hart completed the course in 13:45, finishing 54th.

The Northwest junior varsity boys finished second with 50 points. David Dunford won the race in 17:45. David Piper took fifth in 17:38.

Other Texan finishers were Connor McDonald 11th, Tate Hunton 15th, Brady Sooter 21st, Drew Harris 29th, Caleb Frandsen 35th, James McCann 39th, Trenton Beaufeaux 43rd, Matthew Flachsbart 45th, Reid Phillips 59th, Zack Jones 67th, Chris Giles 68th, Austin Marstaller 86th, Danny Miller 94th, Alan Dent 104th, Johnathan Turner 112th and Tyler Piper 121st.

The Northwest junior varsity girls captured fifth with 119 points. The Lady Texans' top runner was Jessica Wiggins in 13:30, finishing 17th. Mariah Indihar took 26th in 13:53.

Other Northwest finishers were Kathleen Williams 30th, Allison VanGordon 31st, Alyssa Childress 38th, Samantha Shows 41st, Allie Spagnola 52nd, Kylie Easter 53rd, Ksenia Chambers 56th, Bethany Radic 64th, Reagan Savoie 79th and DJ Simmons 94th.

In the 4A race, the Alvord girls took 10th. Alvord was led by Jordan Ward, who ran a 13:01 to finish 28th. Becky Hofsiss was 42nd in 13:17. Chelsey Steele ran 13:40 to take 56th. Ashley Musgrave took 57th in 13:41. Alvord's fifth runner was Carley King, who finished 67th in 13:52. Madi Lynch took 76th and Caly Rangel 80th.

Slidell took 12th in the race, finishing with 280 points. Slidell's Allie Staub finished second in 12:09. Bobbi Clemmer was 14th in 12:37. Katy Stephens took 70th in 13:54. Rebekah McGregor was 103rd in 15:01. Sarah Davis was Slidell's fifth runner, crossing the finish in 15:04 to take 104th. Fernanda Martinez took 107th.
