Northwest takes third

Northwest boys and girls varsity cross-country teams took third-place honors in Saturday's Birdville Invitational.

Troy Taylor was runner-up for the Texans in 16:54, and Stephen Johnson also made the top 10, running the course in 17:20 to place eighth. Nick Fowler was 12th in 17:47, David Piper 26th in 18:24 and Jared Ward 29th in 18:27 to round out the scoring.

Tate Hunton and Josh Dunn also finished strong, taking 30th and 31st, respectively.

Rachel Riggs paced the Lady Texans, placing sixth in 12:24. Jasmine Boutte was 12th in 12:48, Caren Stuebe 17th in 13:05, Malisa Lewis 18th in 13:08 and Cooper Mitchell 20th in 13:10. Maddie Wood placed 26th and Allison VanGordon 31st.

In the 4A division, David Dunford placed fourth, Connor McDonald fifth, Brady Sooter 13th, James McCann 15th, Caleb Frandsen 16th and Drew Harris 19th.

For the girls Mariah Indihar was 10th, Samantha Shows 13th, Laura Day 16th, Kathleen Williams 17th, Victoria Rasmussen 20th, Alyssa Childress 24th, Morgan Bomgardner 38th, Ksenia Chambers 51st, Hannah Hart 54th, Bethany Radic 79th, Reagan Savoie 89th, Katie Campbell 97th, Erica Geninatti 103rd and DJ Simmons 108th.
