Hanna Galloway took first, Zuleima Paloma second and Natalie Neighbors third, and Rebecca Roose added a 10th place finish as the Decatur Lady Eagles took to the title Saturday at Decatur's cross country meet.
Veronica Torres completed the team scoring with a 13th place effort, just ahead of teammate Bianca Morrison in 14th. Whitney Vrba also broke into the top 20 with a 19th place time.
Galloway ran the course in 11:50.44, while Paloma turned in a 12:04.28 and Neighbors a 12:15.14. Roose came in at 12:53.91, Torres 13:09.8, Morrison 13:10.65 and Vrba in 13:35.4.
That gave Decatur 29 points, with Denton Guyer in second with 45.
The state's top-ranked 3A Lady Eagles competed in the 4A-5A division.
The Decatur boys, also running in the 4A-5A competition, were third, led by Cris Ortiz with a third-place race. Alex Forbis took 9th. Ortiz finished in 16:41.49 and Forbis in 17:00.9.
Gustavo Huerta placed 12th in 17:14.88, Chase Saunders 13th in 17:36.08 and Pablo Rivas took 24th in 19:02.3 to complete the scoring. Guyer won it with 34 points followed by Burkburnett with 51 and Decatur with 56.
Also competing were Travis Kyle in 25th at 19:06.75 and Gunner Dailey in 26th with a 19:25.8.
Paradise was second and Boyd third in the girls 3A and under division. Boyd's Katie Marks was the runner-up while Hailey Mitchell (6th), Lauren Brinson (9th) and Kim Sadler (10th) led the charge for Paradise.
Marks ran a 12:15.59. Skylar Truly placed 11th for Boyd with a 13:20.68, Courtney Sanders 16th in 13:26.59, Bethany Riley 19th in 13:43.6 and Dancey Jordan 24th in 14:05.63.
For Paradise, Mitchell was timed in 13:00.76, Brinson in 13:14.17, and Sadler in 13:19.94. Shanee Gober was 12th in 13:21.07, Ashley Sparks placed 14th in 13:23.52 and Gabbie VonHueval 31st in 14:57.91. Brock won with 25 points and five top 10 spots, Paradise had 51 points and Boyd 72.
Decatur also had a team in this division, led by Sutton Young in 13th with a 13:21.49. Astrid Mendez was 25th in 14:20.17 in a group with Casie Morgan, Haleigh Newville, Elise Keller and Katie Brown.
Gavin VonHueval of Paradise won the 3A and under boys contest, with Keaton Scruggs of Boyd in second. Boyd took team runner-up honors as well, as Jake May placed sixth. Bailey Logan of Paradise was ninth.
VonHueval's winning time was 17:05.78 followed by Scruggs' 17:32.82. May ran a 17:55.25 and Bailey 18:09.88. Also for Boyd, Kyle Dunn was 12th in 18:29.39, Matt Shearer 17th in 19:24.49 and Austin Booth 25th in 21:27.17.
Completing the Paradise effort were Jacob Garza in 21st at 20:24.56, Callahan Storey in 26th with a 21:35.12 and Toi Glover in 29th with a 23:31.03.
Paulina Sanchez of Decatur won the girls junior varsity race in 13:48.7. Teammate Tamara Maywald was sixth in 14:28.02, Hannah Davidson 10th in 14:42.87, Katie Oberle 17th in 15:45.25, Krista Tamplen 19th in 16:02.76, Casey Ritter 20th in 16:12.69, and Lindsey Provan 22nd in 16:30.88. Andrea Rivera in 24th at 16:50.64 led a group with Teresa Rivera, Korey Jones and Erica Lampkins. Karen Fernandez was 32nd.
For Paradise, Kourtland Smith was third in 14:17.41, Kristina Lippencott ninth in 14:32.16 and Nicole Alley 14th in 15:13.75.
In the boys JV division, Michael Smyers of Decatur was 19th in 20:38.43, Kyle Hunley 25th in 21:22.63, Tim Slimp 29th in 21:33.42 and Daniel Smyers 31st in 21:37.06.
For Boyd, Hunter Shearer was 32nd in 21:37.62 and Noel Brickle 40th in 22:30.6.
