Kristin Shoppa won the first go in barrel racing, and Clayton Shaw won the first go in calf roping last week at the Texas High School Rodeo Association's Finals in Abilene. The second go will run through Sunday.
The annual Decatur Eagle Football Camp for boys entering third through sixth grades is 7 to 9 p.m. June 22-25. Forms are available on the district's Web site at www.decaturisd.us.
Benefit softballtournament
A coed softball tournament to benefit Laura Jeanna is Saturday, July 11, at Renshaw Park in Decatur. Jeanna was in a horse accident that left her a paraplegic, and all proceeds will go toward her medical bills. The tournament is $150 per team, and prizes will be awarded for first and second places. Lady Eagle Basketball Camp
Decatur girls basketball coach Billy Garner has set the annual Decatur Lady Eagle Basketball Camp from 9 a.m. to noon June 29-July 2 for all girls entering first through eighth grades. Group and individual instruction will be given by the DHS basketball coaching staff, area coaches and former Decatur standouts. Campers will learn a variety of skills including shooting, dribbling, passing, defense and team play. Awards will be given out for each age group. The cost is $55 per camper and $30 for siblings. Decatur boys hoop camp July 6-9
Decatur boys basketball coach Roger Brown will host the Eagle Basketball Camp July 6-9. Memorial golf tournament tees off next weekend
The second annual Bryan Ledet Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament is Saturday, June 27, at The Club at Runaway Bay. There is an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start with prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, first- place, 10th-place and 20th-place teams. Bridgeport physicals set for 2009-10 athletes
All athletes entering seventh, ninth and 11th grades must have a new physical before the first day of practices for their sport. Football, volleyball and cross country begin in six weeks. Athletes entering eighth, 10th and 12th grades who have had a broken bone, concussion, major illness or surgery within the past year must also have a new physical, but coaches encourage athletes in all grades to get one. This year's physicals will be held at the high school gym for $15. Forms are available from coach Billy Newsom or can be they downloaded at www.uil.utexas.edu/forms. Decatur cheer camp coming soon
The Decatur High School cheerleaders' annual mini cheer camp is 10 a.m. to noon, July 27-29, at the high school gym. Campers will work on jumps, motions, dance and fun games. The cost is $40 ($45 if paid after July 1). Registration forms can be picked up at Carson or Rann elementaries, The Magic Pony, Hip Chic Boutique or Juleez on the square. Decatur hosting first soccer camp
The inaugural Decatur Eagles Summer Soccer Camp for boys and girls in first through sixth grades is June 29-July 2. All campers will learn a variety of fundamentals while having fun in the first soccer camp ever held by a Wise County school. Kids in first through third grades will camp from 9 to 11 a.m., while the all fourth through sixth graders will be on the field from noon to 2 p.m. The cost is $60 in advance and $70 on the first day.
