Today, the 6-foot, 8-inch center knows there is more basketball to be played. The all-district Decatur standout has signed a national letter of intent to play at Bethany College in Kansas.
The tallest player in the county last season was also named the Defensive Player of the Year in Wise County for his dominating presence inside the paint where he forced opponents to alter their shots on a daily basis.
Head Bethany coach Clair Oleen said Rawle brings a much-needed big body to the team.
"We look forward to working with him, as he further develops as a basketball player, Oleen said. "We want to help him reach his full potential."
In his senior year, Rawle had a county-high 45 blocks while averaging nine points and five rebounds a game.
Bethany College competes in 15 intercollegiate sports in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, as well as college-sponsored cheer and dance squads. Since 1902, Bethany has won 142 conference championships.
Rawle is the son of Craig and Judy Rawle. At Bethany he plans to study engineering.
