The Lady Texans kept the unbeaten streak alive in April as they wrapped up the district's schedule with a sweep of their final two opponents to remain atop the standings. Keller also won its last two games to finish as co-district champions.
Northwest, which defeated Keller two weeks ago and lost 1-0 last month, opted to flip a coin rather than play a third game to determine playoff seedings. The Lady Texans lost the flip and will enter the state playoffs as the No. 2 seed starting next weekend.
The Lady Texans needed an extra inning to avoid an upset in a makeup game Monday against Trinity. They scattered 10 hits and got the last one in the eighth inning in a 3-2 victory.
The only runs in the game before the big finish were scored in the fifth inning when both teams pushed two across home plate.
Melissa Hiatt's RBI double was the biggest hit of the night for Northwest.
Northwest used several big hits Tuesday night to dispose of Keller Central. Three of the team's 10 hits went for extra bases as it cruised to a 5-2 victory.
Natalie Nimmo hit a home run, Lauren Bixler ripped a triple and Erinn Jayjohn had a double.
The Lady Texans were forced to play more defense than normal as they surrendered seven hits in the game and 13 in two days. However, they made sure most of the base runners were stranded to win their 11th straight game.
