He will travel to Puerto Rico where he will be coached by collegiate and professional-level coaches, play against top-level Puerto Rican teams, learn about another culture and get to use the Spanish he is studying at Decatur High School.
Adams tried out Aug. 29 at McMurry University in Abilene and was evaluated for the positions of pitcher and first base, hitting skills were also evaluated.
Jeremy has overcome difficult obstacles to reach his potential as a baseball player. At age 6 months, as a result of seizures, he was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis. At 9 he had to undergo a gamma-knife procedure to remove growths in his brain.
Undaunted, at 10 he played third base for the Texas West State Champion Little League Team from University Little League in Fort Worth, where he lived at the time. There he demonstrated the reason for his nickname, "The Vacuum Cleaner," by scooping up numerous ground balls and making throws to first base for outs.
Jeremy played first base and pitcher for the Decatur JV team last year and was an important member of the district champion team that garnered a 16-2 record.
Jeremy attends Ascension & St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where his father is the minister.
