Pressure reached an all-time high Tuesday night in the area championship baseball game between the Decatur Eagles and the Burnet Bulldogs at Summit High School in Mansfield. With the bases loaded for Burnet and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Decatur pitcher Justin Tompkins forced the final ground-out to cap a nine-strikeout, six-hit outing that gave the Eagles a 5-3 victory and a spot in the Class 3A regional quarterfinals.

TODAY'S UPDATE
AURORA HOUSE FIRE - A couple acted quickly to rescue two dogs from inside a burning Aurora home yesterday afternoon. A two-story residence in the 400 block of Aurora Vista caught fire at approximately 4 p.m. Neighbors Scott and Patricia Gross rescued two dogs trapped inside. The owners weren't home. The fire appeared to start in the attic above the garage. Newark, Rhome, Boyd and Paradise volunteer fire departments responded. Firefighters stormed into the attic and doused the flames shooting through the roof. They prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the home. The fire was extinguished within an hour.
