Sanger baseball coach Tracy Howard told reporters after his team was eliminated by Decatur Saturday afternoon in Lake Dallas that it is hard to beat the same team four times in one season. He was making reference to his team beating the Eagles twice during the regular season before getting swept in the Class 3A regional quarterfinal series over the weekend.

Going into the third and deciding baseball game Saturday in Wichita Falls, there were no worries or concerns among the Decatur High School baseball players. Head coach Chris Carter and his team knew they had the offense and defense to pull off a second straight upset in the Class 3A state playoffs against Vernon.

Everything was going good for the Northwest High School softball team after game one of its playoff series with Coppell. The defense rarely allowed the Cowgirls on base en route to a 3-1 victory, and they were one game away from going to the regional semifinals for a fourth straight year.

SPORTS FACILITIES - A group of parents is expected to ask the Decatur School Board tonight to consider improvements to Eagle Stadium, including the installation of all-weather turf on the football field. The parents are expected to propose a community-wide fund raising effort to assist with the project estimated to cost between $650,000 and $1 million.
