| Softball coach Scott McTee ended a successful three-year run at Decatur High School on Friday with a thrilling victory over rival Bridgeport. Just minutes after his team rallied from six runs down in the last inning of an 14-13 win, he told his team during the post game huddle that they had just won his last game at Decatur. |
| "I love this school, I love this staff here, and I love the community, but the commute after two years is just too much," said McTee, who has made the trip from McKinney every day for the last two years. "I have a wife and kids at home, and it's time to get closer to home so I can be with them." McTee helped guide the Lady Eagles to the state playoffs in two of his three years, including a regional quarterfinal appearance in 2007. He has not found another job yet, but he wanted to give athletic director Kyle Story plenty of time to find the best coach possible for the job. "My job here will not be done until the last day of school. There is a lot of young talent here and some coach is going to get very lucky with all this talent," McTee said. "We will start working with our offseason kids until school is out. These kids are going to do great things after I leave, and we want to keep them on that track." McTee had been offered the job at Little Elm last summer, but he was unable to accept it because he could not get out of his contract at Decatur as Story could not find a replacement on short notice. McTee turned in his resignation on Monday, which is to go into effect at the end of the school year. |
