| Facing 272 athletes from around North Texas was quite the task for the Bridgeport High School powerlifting team over the weekend. Though it did not take home any team hardware, the group did have several competitors finish among the best. |
| The Bulls, who finished seventh out of 22 teams on the boys' side, had four athletes finish in the top five of their weight classes. C.J. Hale and Zack Watson led the way with a pair of second-place performances. Watson finished 95 pounds shy of winning the 181.5 weight class where he racked up 1,005 pounds and just behind Paradise's Scotty Lancaster with 1,100. Watson had a 215-pound bench press, a 415 squat and a 375 deadlift. Hale was solid in the 132.5 division where he had the second highest total with 895 pounds. He had a 205 bench press, 360 squat and a 330 deadlift. Ryan McCarthy also had a good day for Bridgeport, placing fourth in the 181.5 weight class. His 995 pounds included a 195 bench press, 380 squat and a 420 deadlift. Lane Lube did not place but had his best day of the season in the 198.5 weight class where he lifted 1,035 pounds. He had a 205 bench press, 410 squat and a 405 deadlift. Bryan Seymore competed in the 148.5 division, but he did not record a squat in the finals. In girls' action, Bailey Jones and Susan Hunter were the only competitors in action for Bridgeport. Jones was solid as she placed fifth in her first meet with 585 pounds in the 132.5 division. She had a 110 bench press, 220 squat and a 255 deadlift. Hunter competed in the 148 weight class where she posted 355 pounds. She had a 55 bench press, 150 squat and a 150 deadlift. |
