Weatherford College's Clif Cooper and Jake Cobb captured regional championships in their respective events in the final regular season event of the year last weekend at Tarleton State University.
The Decatur High School graduates will join WC's George Rowland, of Paradise, at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo., in June.
Cooper, a sophomore, won the regional tie-down roping championship for the second straight season and is the leader in the overall standings. He is continuing his family's success in the event, as his father and grandfather are past CNFR calf roping champions.
Cobb, a freshman, won the team roping-heeler championship with teammate Kyle Roberts of Eastern New Mexico.
Rowland, a sophomore, won the reserve championship in tie-down roping, finishing just behind Cooper. Rowland barely missed qualifying for last year's CNFR, finishing in fifth place in 2008.
The talented trio will head to Wyoming for the 61st annual CNFR, held June 14-20 in the Casper Events Center.
"This is a real honor - the culmination of 10 long rodeos over the season," said Mike Brown, head WC rodeo coach. "We're taking a lot of talent up there, and we should do well."
