Decatur swam against five schools in its first action, scoring five top-three finishes.
"The swimmers did very well for their first meet," said Decatur coach Doris Dennard. "This was the first high-school meet for Daniel Smyers, David Tally and Chris Cain. We had times that were close to what we finished the season with last year. We are looking for some good results this season.
"We are a small team competing against large teams from 4A and 5A schools. I was very proud of our effort," Dennard said. "They did a good job, and some of them were surprised at how well they competed. We have a lot of conditioning work to do, so that we can finish our races stronger."
