Three of the four athletes from Decatur and Alvord came up short of taking home some hardware, but one came through with one of the biggest performances of her career.

Lady Eagle Tamara Croft become just the second female athlete to medal at the state finals when she took third place in the 198.5 division. Two-time state champion Krystal Sherman is the last DHS athlete to shine at the state finals and that was four years ago.

Croft came through with a 375-pound squat, 140 bench press and a 325 deadlift for a total of 840. Valerie Brown of Bridge City won the title with 985 pounds.

Decatur's Chloe Dey competed in the 220 division and was eighth in Class 3A.

From Alvord, Paige Klein came in ninth in the 132.5-weight class where she finished with 640 pounds. The senior had a 225 squat, 105 bench press and a 310 deadlift.

Priscilla Clegg was eighth in the 220 division where she landed a 350 squat and 135 bench press but was unable to nail the deadlift.
