Decatur junior quarterback Wilson Hicks methodically dissected the Liberty Christian defense, connecting with five different receivers, including a 9-yard strike to Beau Bedford to complete the 10-play, 60-yard drive.

Through the first 800 meters Saturday morning, Decatur’s Alan Rangle felt he was off pace. The 2016 state meet qualifier then lowered the hammer over the last mile, flirting with eclipsing 10 minutes in the two-mile time trial at Decatur High School. Rangle crossed the finished line in a blazing 10:04.

After four days of conditioning and practice sessions in helmets and shorts, Wise County football players finally get the opportunity to put on the pads Friday. It’s the first day the University Interscholastic League allows teams to have full contact practices after a four-day acclimation period.
