On Jan. 26, the fourth grade students from Carson Elementary experienced an archeology-based field day at Black Creek Lake Recreation Area, LBJ Grasslands. The success of this event was dependent of people in the community who volunteered their time and/or materials.
We express our appreciation and gratitude to the U.S. Forest Service employees who were involved: Jim Crooks, David Weldon, Scott Siebert and Rebecca Knapp; to historian Kerry Clower for speaking on the history of the Wise County area; to all the parents who volunteered to chaperone; and to Colleen Bocanegra and Julie Duty for helping gather the needed materials.
Thank you for making this a successful outdoor learning experience.
