Speak out against HR 2454

A couple weeks ago, I saw a poll that indicated more than 60 percent of all Americans were against the way President Obama was spending our taxpayer money, and at the same time, there was another poll that showed more than 60 percent of all Americans were satisfied with his performance as president. Where have all the responsible Americans gone when the majority can approve of a president after admitting he squanders our tax money?

I lived outside the United States for nearly 20 years and, this reeks of Third World politics, where it's not necessarily your job skills that get you elected, but your connections and social popularity. Are we aspiring to be a Third World country?

On Friday, the vote goes to the Senate on the Cap and Trade Bill, HR 2454. A bill that is predicated on the theory that mankind is responsible for global warming (another theory). Good thing we didn't enact any legislation in the '70s against the then heralded imminent Ice Age or I guess, by government mandate, we'd all be wearing parkas in this 100-degree weather.

Both political parties agree, that if passed, this bill will hurt the economy by raising the price of gasoline and increasing heating and cooling energy costs. Great! That's all we need right now, another nail in the economic coffin and another ploy by the Democrats to control free enterprise.

Conscientious measures to limit pollution are always in favor, but this bill is radical and exceeds anything sensible for the moment. We must do all we can to ensure this bill does not pass. Please write your Congressmen and party representatives.

As an aside, I would love to argue the credibility of man-made global warming, but this letter is too short.

Suffice it to say that there are numerous renowned and credentialed individuals and organizations in the world to dispute it, but they are derided and given very little publicity or credibility by the media.

In many cases, they are intimidated into silence while Al Gore is praised for making a pro global warming film containing inaccuracies and exaggerated data.

Why aren't liberal Democrats outraged by these efforts to stifle free speech?
