I don't usually write like this but I felt that the Messenger did an injustice to the city of Chico on June 2 by not having someone from the paper at the city council meeting.
We swore in the youngest mayor that night, and it wasn't even important enough to make the paper. J.D. Clark has served on the council for some time and is an asset to our community and deserved that recognition.
Also at the meeting, his first official duty was to give the Lifetime Acheivement Award to a very deserving lady. Berniece Bailey is my mother-in-law, and even though she doesn't live in the city limits, she promotes the city in every way. Anytime anyone in Decatur is given an award it is in the paper and since Wise County Messenger signifies Wise County and we are part of Wise County it would be nice to be recognized.
