I recently had the opportunity to read the Sept. 13 letter to the editor from Gerald Groves. In this letter, Mr. Groves comments that the city of Bridgeport's annexation efforts are creating an "Auschwitz II" at the Acme Brick plant west of town.
Mr. Groves, this is a reprehensible comment that you should be ashamed of. Auschwitz was the most infamous death camp created by Nazi Germany, murdering over 1 million innocent victims within its facilities. Its name implies some of the darkest evil our world has ever witnessed.
I hardly doubt that you need an education in what the name Auschwitz means. But apparently you need an education in good manners and taste. Trying to associate this evil with the annexation issues you disagree with is incredibly insensitive and only shows your penchant for histrionics.
An apology is in order to the readers of this periodical and to the citizens and servants of the city of Bridgeport.
