America is fed up
By D. S. Hughes | Published Thursday, September 24, 2009
I can't imagine why the president and Congress don't get it. Americans are angry with our elected officials and corporate America. We, the people, are fed up!

The greed of corporate America, and their focus on the bottom line has stolen jobs from the American people. We never thought there would be a day when our factories would be shut down and the jobs of hard working Americans, along with their company benefits, would be sent to other countries. Our elected officials are borrowing money from China, when the money China has loaned us, was money that should have been in the pockets of the American workers. Corporate America has stolen our jobs and China is now loaning our government money.

Corporate America has also, through different means such as political action committees, corrupted our legislative system through lobbyist and large campaign contributions in order to influence the decisions Congress makes on bills. The outcome means more dollars for corporate America, but not the American people. The American worker has been shut out of this process.

Greed and influence seems to turn the wheels in Washington. "We the people" are fed up with the President and all his promises, we are fed up with Congress and their inability to get along and get things done. We are also fed up with the Supreme Court and their participation in decisions that leave the American people completely out of moral issues. The Supreme Court is not the voice of the people.

During the month of June, President Obama told a group who met with him in the White House, that he was talking to Congress to repeal the so called defense of Marriage Act. Marriage between a man and woman is the foundation of the family and this civilization. The president, Congress and corporate America have forgotten "We the People," and Americans are angry. Decisions are being made in this nation that will affect this country for generations to come, and "We the People" no longer feel that we have a voice.

This nation was built on the backs of the hard working Americans. Washington and corporate America has forgotten this. President Obama and Congress, if you want to know why Americans seem so angry, I have a suggestion. Go to my hometown in Eden, N.C., and look at all the factories that are shut down. There are towns and cities all over America who have suffered because of the decisions coming out of Washington, D.C. and corporate America. NAFTA alone has closed many factory doors, when it was manufacturing which helped to build this nation into one of the most prosperous nations on earth.
