Blanche Katherine Rainey
1920-2008

Funeral for Blanche Katherine Rainey, 87, of Decatur was to be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Monahans Cemetery in Monahans with Bill Gaston officiating.
Rainey died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, in Decatur.

Born Dec. 2, 1920, in Hickory Plains, Ark., to Cooper and Thresea Gable Polk, she attended schools in Hickory Plains and was a member of the basketball team. She married H.M. "Buster" Rainey in April 1942 and moved to Monahans in 1950. She worked for Monahans-Wickett-Pyote school cafeterias from 1965 to 1986. She moved to Decatur in 1997. She gardened, sewed, cooked and was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Lorene Berry, and brother, Charles Polk.

She is survived by her sons, W.H. and wife, Frances, of Decatur and Rickey and wife Jane of Arlington; sisters, Christine Welch of Beebe, Ark., Margaret Fromby of Pasadena and Lucille Smothers of Joliet, Ill.; brothers, Bud Polk and Gene Polk of Beebe; grandchildren, Tracey Rainey of Mesquite, Laurie Brandon of Carrollton, Robby Rainey of McKinney, Susan Rush of Charlotte, N.C., Kathy Kovar of Lubbock and Kara Rainey of Decatur; and six great-grandchildren.
