| Funeral for Blanche Katherine Rainey, 87, of Decatur was to be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Monahans Cemetery in Monahans with Bill Gaston officiating. |
Rainey died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, in Decatur.
Born Dec. 2, 1920, in Hickory Plains, Ark., to Cooper and Thresea Gable Polk, she attended schools in Hickory Plains and was a member of the basketball team. She married H.M. "Buster" Rainey in April 1942 and moved to Monahans in 1950. She worked for Monahans-Wickett-Pyote school cafeterias from 1965 to 1986. She moved to Decatur in 1997. She gardened, sewed, cooked and was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Lorene Berry, and brother, Charles Polk.
She is survived by her sons, W.H. and wife, Frances, of Decatur and Rickey and wife Jane of Arlington; sisters, Christine Welch of Beebe, Ark., Margaret Fromby of Pasadena and Lucille Smothers of Joliet, Ill.; brothers, Bud Polk and Gene Polk of Beebe; grandchildren, Tracey Rainey of Mesquite, Laurie Brandon of Carrollton, Robby Rainey of McKinney, Susan Rush of Charlotte, N.C., Kathy Kovar of Lubbock and Kara Rainey of Decatur; and six great-grandchildren. |
