| Funeral for J.W. "Red" Briscoe, 92, of Bridgeport will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at Hawkins Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Elaine Bussey officiating. Burial will be at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. |
Briscoe died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in Bridgeport.
Born June 26, 1916, in Graham to Thomas and Effie (Cannon) Briscoe, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He married Luella Neufeld Jan. 28, 1943, in Carlsbad, N.M. He was a retired gas meter tester for Warren Petroleum and a member of the Bridgeport Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brother, Buss Briscoe; and two sisters, Alfa Bass and Opal Perdue.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Briscoe of Fort Worth; sister, Irene Johnson of Perryton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Craig Woodard, Orrie Harris, Jimmy Bergeman, Jerry Sawatsky, Orlan Frantz and Lonnie Benham. |
