 Sanders died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Decatur.
Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Clarendon to Reed and Della (Luttrell) Sanders, he served in the Navy during World War II. He was a retired butcher and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 55 years where he was a Sunday school director.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Sanders; brother, Arthur Sanders; and mother of his children, Gloria Sanders Kemp.
He is survived by his son, Johnny Sanders and wife, Patricia, of Boyd; daughters, Rita Elliott and husband, John, of Decatur, Vera Rasco and husband, Bruce, of Paradise and Gloria Gray of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Jason, Joseph and Dianna Sanders and Amanda Rasco; great-grandson, Joseph Slayton Hilyard; and numerous other family members. |
