Duke died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Decatur.
Born March 3, 1931, in Preskitt, Ark., to Charles and Grace Duke, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked in the oil field, was a volunteer firefighter and was a television repairman. He played shuffle board, bingo, pool and golf.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Shannon, and a brother, Charles Duke.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nita; daughters, Lori Parish and husband, Lawrence, Diane White and husband, Willard, all of Okemah, Okla., Lori Hale and husband, Jabo, of Crafton, Lisa Young of Bridgeport, Patty Goodger and husband, Jeremy, of Cottondale and Kayla McComis and husband, Michael, of Bridgeport; grandchildren, James Williams and wife, Rebecca, Krystal Casey, Bandy Griffin and wife, Jenifer, Rossi Coplan, Kaylee Griffin, Radley Coplan, Kyler Hale, Jacob and Jenna Goodger, Aiden and Abigail McComis, Hannah Young and Casey Young; and five great-grandchildren. |
