Parr will run for constable

Douglas Parr of Boyd recently announced his candidacy for the Wise County Precinct 3 constable position, held by Kay Williams. Parr filed paperwork with the Wise County Clerk's office naming wife Rebecca Zorns Parr as campaign treasurer. He will run as a Republican.
Parr owns freight business.
According to a press release, Parr has served in law enforcement for 18 years and is a reserve deputy sheriff at the Wise County Sheriff's Department.
Parr was most recently a sergeant with the Farmers Branch Police Department, serving for nine years. During that time, he was the field training officer commander, assistant SWAT commander and oversaw the intoxilyzer program. He was named officer of the year in 1998 and received an award from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Previous to his tenure at Farmers Branch, Parr was a deputy sheriff with the Wise County Sheriff's Department and was awarded the medal of valor and named patrol deputy of the year in 1996.
"As Wise County continues to grow, the constable's role in the community will become even more important with increasing demands," Parr said in the press release. "I know that my extensive training will become even more instrumental in serving the citizens of Wise County in a professional manner."
He has worked as a detention officer and dispatcher for the Wise County Sheriff's Office, Bridgeport Police Department and the Denton County Sheriff's Office, according to the press release.
Parr grew up in Alvord and graduated from Alvord High School. He attended Weatherford College and North Central Texas College, as well as the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas' leadership command college and numerous other law enforcement and supervision training programs.
Parr and his wife have a daughter, Aubrey, 6, and a son, 8-month-old Curran. He and his family attend Boyd Church of Christ and Heritage Church of Christ.
