EVACUATION - Residents of the Governor's Ridge Retirement Center in Decatur were evacuated Saturday night after a small fire in the kitchen filled the building with smoke. Decatur firefighters, police officers and Wise County EMS personnel helped with the evacuation. Bridgeport firefighters were initially called to assist but were told to disregard before they arrived at the scene. There were no injuries, and residents were allowed back into their rooms about an hour after the evacuation.

Stephen Clinton Ward, 50, of Keller was arrested Thursday afternoon in Fort Worth on charges of robbing the Wells Fargo Bank in Rhome on Wednesday. He was arrested by Texas Rangers and Wise County Sheriff's investigators.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT - One person was injured in a motorcycle accident on U.S. 81/287 Tuesday afternoon. Johnny Whittington, 39, of Burleson was southbound on 81/287 near the intersection of Business 81/287 when he lost control of his motorcycle and drove into the median. Witnesses cite a gust of wind as cause for the accident. He was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth via ground ambulance. Decatur Police issued a citation for driving without a license to operate a motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.
