Rowe cruises to win

District Clerk Cristy Begeman Fuqua was the only incumbent to lose in Tuesday's Republican primary as she was beaten by Brenda Rowe by a vote of 3,528 to 2,544.
Rowe led from the start, as early voting results showed the challenger with a 940 to 765 vote lead. The lead continued to grow throughout the night. Rowe won 18 of the county's 22 boxes and tied in another. With no Democratic challenger, Rowe will become the next district clerk. Fuqua has been district clerk since she was elected in 2002. Neither candidate could be reached for comment late Tuesday night.
