Voter turnout at elections never comes close to approaching the actual number of registered or eligible voters.

In Tuesday night's primary election, just under 22 percent of Wise County's 34,755 registered voters chose to cast their ballot. That's a hair better than the 20 percent seen statewide.

But one Greenwood man refuses to let anything stop him from exercising his right to vote.

Willie Clyde Cole, 84, has undergone more hardship than most. Despite being blind, almost deaf and recently suffering a broken hip, Cole, and his wife of 62 years, Jessie, found their way to a Greenwood ballot box Tuesday.
