| A civil trial more than two years in the making started Tuesday morning. |
By 3 p.m. attorneys were still sifting through the jury selection process which began at 9 a.m.
The plaintiff in the case is Patrick Murphree, suing on behalf of his daughter, Jackie. Jackie remains in a severely crippled, semi-conscious state after a car wreck forever changed her life two-and-a-half years ago.
Betty Ann Monroe and Jackie Murphree, both of Decatur, were involved in an accident Aug. 17, 2007, at the intersection of U.S. 380 and County Road 1110, just west of Decatur. Investigating officers said Monroe was driving under the influence of alcohol on a closed portion of U.S. 380 under construction when she struck Murphree in the driver's side of her car.
