The Greenwood-Slidell Volunteer Fire Department received a new rescue command truck through a $20,000 grant from EnCana Oil and Gas Inc. The new truck will serve as a command center in emergency situations, allowing the department to meet the Federal Emergency Management Association's National Incident Management System's incident response protocol.
"In the past year, we have lost two trucks to accidents leaving us without a rescue command truck," said Adam North, fire chief for the department. "We simply did not have the funds to replace our lost vehicles. Without EnCana's generous donation, we would not have been able to purchase a new truck and respond to our citizens in a timely manner in their time of need."
