SPLASH DAY - Rhome Splash Day and Fish Fry is Saturday, July 31, at the Rhome Fire Department. The event will feature water slides and bounce houses for kids 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $7 all day. The fish fry is 6 to 9 p.m., $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Dee Romine will perform at the dinner. Proceeds benefit the Rhome Volunteer Fire Department. DHS REUNION - The DHS Class of 1980 is holding its 30th reunion July 30-31. Alumni will meet at Bono's in Decatur at 7 p.m. both nights. Afterparty will follow at the Harris camp at the Reunion grounds. Graduating classes from 1977-85 are invited. CLASS REUNION - The Decatur High School Class of 1970 will have its 40th reunion at noon Saturday, July 31, at Catfish O'Harlies. No reservations are needed. Class members are requested to bring any memorabilia they may want to share. Dress is casual and spouses are invited. Members of the classes of 1969 and 1971 are also invited.

VACCINATIONS - The Texas Department of State Health Services will hold two clinics for back to school shots. The first is 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 2, at the Bridgeport First United Methodist Church. 608 17th St. and the second will be 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 16, at the Decatur First United Methodist Church, 411 N. Miller St. Bring your child's current shot records. Vaccines are $14 each with a maximum of $28 per family. Fees are based on a sliding scale.

PESTICIDE TRAINING - A private applicator training and test is 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the County Extension office. Registration fee is $45. This class is for individuals who do not currently have a pesticide applicator license. The class is limited to the first 20 paid participants, so call the Extension office at (940) 627-3341 to sign up.

BREASTFEEDING MONTH - Outreach Health Services invites mothers and mothers-to-be to celebrate breastfeeding month from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at the office, 2306 S. FM 51 in Decatur. Food and drinks will be served. For information, call Savhanna Pannell at (940) 627-5796.

BENEFIT ACCOUNT - An account has been set up to benefit 18-month-old Alora Ferrier of Boyd at Wells Fargo Bank. Ferrier, daughter of Crystal Ferrier and Daniel Talley, was diagnosed with cancer of the retina and had the tumor and eye removed April 27. The account number is 5206002213 and will go toward associated expenses.

COLLECTING CANS - A container for aluminum cans has been placed at the dump site on Farm Road 51 South in Decatur. Donated cans will be sold with proceeds benefiting the Wise County Animal Shelter.

NEED RECIPES? - First Financial Bank in Boyd, Decatur and Bridgeport is selling cookbooks for $15. Proceeds benefit Relay for Life.

DONATE A PHONE - Wise Hope Shelter and Crisis Center is accepting cell phones and batteries in any condition. CPR TRAINING - Decatur Fire Department offers CPR training to people living within the Decatur city limits or in the Decatur fire district. Classes are monthly from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. ALTERNATE ENTRANCE - The main entrance to Decatur High School was to be closed Wednesday, July 21, through Monday, July 26. Visitors should use the south entrance near the theater and enter the second-floor office.

HELP NEEDED - Wise County Committee on Aging needs two reliable cars to deliver Meals on Wheels in the Boyd and Bridgeport areas. The committee is renting and borrowing vehicles to get the job done but will not be able to afford rentals after this week. HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING - The Wise County Historical Society will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Wise County Heritage Museum in Decatur. Retired veterinarian Dr. Ed Maddox will be the speaker. The public is welcome.

COMPUTER CLASSES - Newark Public Library is offering a free, basic computer class 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays July 22-Aug. 12. Participants can bring their own laptops or use one of the library's six computers. Since seats and computers are limited, participants must register by calling (817) 489-2224.

OPEN AUDITIONS - Off 380 Players community theater of Wise County will hold open auditions 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 23, at the Decatur Visitors Center, 106 S. Trinity, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at the Bridgeport Stage, 1009 Halsell St. The auditions are for "The Man Who Came to Dinner" (15 men, nine women) and "Mixed Couples" (three men, two women).

SHOWS ADDED - The Off 380 Players production of "Tuesdays with Morrie" has been held over for two performances at the Decatur Visitors Center. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students.

DECATUR EDC RECEPTION - The Decatur Economic Development Corp. will host a reception to welcome new EDC Director Jody Adams 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, in the board room of the Decatur Civic Center. The public is invited. The reception had originally been scheduled for Thursday, July 22.

BAND CAMP - Mighty Marching Maroon band camp is July 29 and 30. All freshmen should attend 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. July 29. All high school band members should attend 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. July 30. For more information, call (940) 683-8420.

AIRPORT WORK - The Bridgeport Municipal Airport will be closed beginning Aug. 2 for the second phase of the surface rehab project funded by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation, Aviation Division. Phase two consists of numbering and re-marking the runway and completing the Precision Approach Position Indicator (PAPI). The airport will be closed for approximately four days. SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE - Wise Hope Shelter and Crisis Center is holding a school supply drive for the children of their clients. They are asking for donations of school supplies, regulation size backpacks, and varying sizes of new children's shoes. Monetary donations and/or gift cards will also be accepted, and Wise Hope staff will use these to purchase needed supplies. Donations can be taken to Wise Hope Crisis Center at 407 S.
