Jennifer Bailey, 17, and two juvenile males, 16 and 14, have been charged with the murder of Susan Bailey, 43, according to a press release from the Roanoke Police Department. Susan is the mother of Jennifer and the 14-year-old male. The names of the juveniles have not been released.

Susan was found dead in her home on Sunday, Sept. 28, with fatal stab wounds to her neck, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office.

Roanoke Police responded to Susan's home after they received a call from police in Yankton, S.D., early Sunday morning. Yankton police had stopped a vehicle registered to Susan Bailey and occupied by Jennifer and the two males. Yankton officers had discovered that the 16-year-old male was reported as a runaway in Denton County on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

"I cannot speculate how long she's been dead or how long these kids have been out of state," said Sgt. Chris Almonrode with the Roanoke Police Department. "There was enough evidence on the scene to charge all three with capital murder."

Almonrode said Monday that the three teenagers were being held in a juvenile detention facility in Sioux Falls, S.D., and that investigators were interviewing the teens.

On Friday, Sept. 26, Susan's mother called from out of state and asked police to check the home, saying she had not heard from her daughter. Police checked the exterior of the home and knocked on the door, but no one answered. They did not enter the home at the time.

A press release from Northwest ISD said that counselors will be available for students and staff members as long as needed.
