The 2009-10 Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter at Alvord High School is busy this week, planning its annual trick-or-treat for charity fundraiser.
The group will meet at the home of Donna Nivens, Alvord High School's FCCLA leader, on Oct. 31 and will go from door to door collecting money for Feed the Children and local charities.
In September, the Alvord FCCLA members selected new officers and presented the year's event calendar.
The new officers are: President Jeremy Browne, Vice President Logan Enis, Secretary Amber Gueer, Treasurer Robin Musgrave, Reporter Jennifer Ward, Parliamentarian Jordan Ward and Project Chairman Macy Lynch. Advisory Committee members are Deshea Malone and Ashley Musgrave.
FCCLA's mission statement is to "promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education." Members develop skills for life through character development and creative and critical thinking. They also utilize interpersonal communication and practical knowledge.
FCCLA has a wide variety of programs serving families, careers and communities.
